Comp Results for STEEZ FEST '08

1st Place Overall - Kenny Peterson's ollie down the 8 stair was pretty rad, especially in a boat!  Check out the pics, man.  He earned this one!

2nd Place Overall - Jesse Kruger.   It takes guts to show up in a Irish Princess costume.  Kruger's got guts and the moves to go with 'em with his no comply flip, willy grind, and his crook backlip.

3rd Place Overall - Ricky Deckard.  Our team mascot!  Deckard had his grove on with his layback down the ledge.  He successfully landed this one!

Best Costume went to "Buckeye Flapjack TJ Moran"!   He looked like Paul Bunyan in skate action!

Best Smile - Alex Loomis in his Hugh Heffner gear and pipe!  He dropped his pipe on the way up the 1/4 pipe and swept it back up on the way down.  Awe, totally smooth!

Best Trick - Aaron Christianson laid it out there with his wall ride and his fakie tre flip on the docker roll-in....truly steezie!!

For more cheesy, steezy action, keep reading on.......

Shouldda been there to check out Tim Bennett's super lay-down.   Everyone was super stoked!
Grant Whiteoak must have had a sweaty face as he wiped his brow during the run.  Chase Domeier's lipslide down the ledge kept the house rockin' while Danny Kern's benihana and krook down the ledge and the rail of death was the one to beat!

Coty Schooley's mardi-gras man was boneless on the quarterpipe and in tune with Seth Alsaker's superman slide!  Gabe Alsaker came sporting his boxers and red tights and showed us his bank treflip while Josh Gilbert's version of "erkle" was right on with his airwalk and footplant.

Dillon Rider snapped his board with his butt after his lipslide down the 8-stair rail.  Andrew Liebman had a handle on the 8-stair with his backlip and Tyle Povlitzki's one-footer and boneless were flawless in his hawaiin costume.  Hey Tyler,  where was the belly dancin'?!

Everyone knows what Pat Gallaher can do, but did you know he can do a steezy nose manny and steezy frontside flip up the euro?
Right on!  Matt Melo was just a good with his tucknee grind and board transfer.  Who else would have the fast food feet and nollie flip ice breaker?  - You got it...Ricky Ogez!   Jordan Lind's 50-50 up the ledge to 180 out was incredible, but Jordan....where's the costume, man?   That's what it's all about!  Chris Wiltinger kept everything professional in his suit coat and pretty much slashed around and Tim Fulton just kept on Brandon Biebel'n!

Props to Davis Torgeson and his 360 flip up the pyramid and his tucknee over the flybox - graceful and steezy!  Joe Grill laid out a nollie backside 180 on the eight footer and a 360 flip on the docker rollin in.  Cruisin' along, Garret Fox kick flipped up the kicker and Travis Stamper's backside lipslide on the longrail ended the runs for the day.

Prizes were awarded after one of the most cheesy product tosses you've ever seen.   Hey, who got that Steez Fest '07 peachie, steezy 70's style shirt?  Bennett wants it back.....that's his everyday ghetto cruisin' shirt!

What can we say, it's 'STEEZ FEST' and when it comes to some steezy flair, flow, style, and costume, we got it all!

Hats off to our cheesy celebrity panel of judges and announcer:   Matt "The Man" Zelazny,  "The Biz" Markie,  "Killer" Carey Kruger, and "Jumpin' George Akande".    We couldn't have pulled it off without 'em!

See ya at STEEZ FEST '09 !  Don't be late.

THE END....................

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

WOW!

What else can we say about the MN OPEN III  ??   If you were there, you saw some first-class, amazing talent.   If you missed it, you missed - big time!

This year's event was bigger & better than ever.   A shout-out goes to our friends at Red Bull Energy Drink, Plan B Skateboards,  Cal-Surf Skate Shop, Lake Owen, S-One Helmets, and the judges who did a phenomenal job.  These sponsors provided awesome skate & drink product, camp certificates, and judges for the day.   And - they played a great part in the success of the comp.   We'll look forward to having these sponsors on board again next year.

Ok, you asked for pics and standings....sorry for the quality of pics...we were trying out a new camera.

BEGINNER:

1st Place went to Ike Sarac.   He ripped the park and landed some pretty cool tricks.   Ike took home a complete, accessories, and a case of Red Bull.
Nick Winn's solid run landed him a 2nd Place finish and a bag of skate accessories along with a case of Red Bull.
Taking home 3rd Place and a bag of accessories & case of Red Bull was Jaycen Berg.

INTERMEDIATE:

ONC's own Justin Sherer put on a pretty good show with his kick flip over the biggest table top, front board slide down the table handrail and a huge front side indy trnasfer.  This kid walked away with the 1st Place title along with a complete, skate accessories, and a case of Red Bull.
Jack Lunt  laid out some pretty gnarly boarding to earn him 2nd Place.
Dustin Krech took home 3rd Place.   You see this guy in the final three standings alot!

EXPERT:

ONC's Manager, Tim Bennett rocked the house!  He ripped, owned, and violated the park winning 1st Place and a cool G!
David James'   superior (and we mean "superior") runs landed him a 2nd place Expert Final.  This dude had it together with his back side 50-50 on the rail of death and his font side lip slide on the 8-stair hand rail fo sho!  His PERFECT 360 flip-to-fakie on the biggest bank ramp was some big action, too! Everything he landed was bolts!
Greg Clover's  not afraid to lay it out there.   His mach 10 front smith on the roof top bump-to-ledge and his back side 360 kick flip over the hip made his run look amazing and won him a 3rd Place finish.

Simply put, everyone rocked -- every rider, every division.   The judges had their hands full for this one!
The vibes in the park were way cool and the spirit of skateboarding was definitely alive!

Thanks to all of the riders, judges, sponsors, announcers, and employees who made the MN OPEN III a huge success.

The boarding talents in Minnesota are way too overlooked.   There are huge numbers of crazy and phenatic riders who dedicate their time to skateboarding.   They know no fear.   Every trick is prompted by the determination and love of the sport.   You are a part of this population and your committment to skateboarding will keep the fire burning in the Great White North!

You can count on the MN OPEN IV being completely radical!  Remember, it'll be the 2nd Sunday in December, 2008.
See you then.
